5. Hong Kong Movies

 

The movies discussed in this paper will be discussed chronologically, beginning with the pre-decolonization era, the immediately before and after decolonization period, and finally the post-colonial era, exploring the changing consciousness of the masses through the evolving themes of the movies. The themes I will be focusing upon include, but are not limited to, themes of movement, transition, liminality, disjuncture and hybridity. I will focus on these themes as they appear in many post-colonial works (by which I mean works exploring the idea of post-colonialism) and are inevitable characteristics of the post-colonial identity.
